Community Building Project
Keene Ranch Event Barn | Rural Elegance Meets Modern Versatility
Versailles, Kentucky
Project Overview:
Completed in 2024 in Versailles, Kentucky, the Keene Ranch Event Barn is a masterclass in modern post-frame design, an elevated, high-performance venue that blends rustic charm with refined sophistication. Built by Walters Buildings and winner of the 2024 National Frame Building Association Award for Hobby Shops, this project proves how structural strength and stunning aesthetics can come together to create unforgettable spaces.

The Building:
Set against the rolling hills of the Kentucky countryside, the Keene Event Barn was envisioned as a multi-purpose gathering space for celebrations, recreation, and community events. Measuring 60′ × 72′, the structure reflects Walters Buildings’ engineering precision and custom craftsmanship at scale, pairing black steel siding with natural stone wainscot and dual cupolas that crown the roofline.
The building’s flying gable entrance and covered porch with grilling area overlook a scenic, man-made pond — an intentional design choice that frames the view and reinforces the barn’s connection to the land. It’s a perfect blend of elegance and approachability: one that feels equally at home hosting a wedding reception, a family reunion, or an evening gathering under the stars.
The Interior:
Inside, the barn features a full-size indoor sports court, adaptable for basketball, pickleball, and other recreational activities. Walters Buildings constructed the exterior shell, ensuring superior insulation, weather resistance, and architectural cohesion, while interior design and finishing were completed by Heller Built, whose craftsmanship transformed the open frame into a polished event environment with lounge areas and gathering spaces.
Nearby, Walters also constructed the Modern Monitor Barn, an equipment storage building designed to complement the Keene Ranch’s aesthetic, reinforcing the cohesive vision of the property.
