Located in Wisconsin, this 2024 build showcases how Walters Buildings can combine rustic charm with modern design. With 6,400 square feet of meticulously crafted living and workspace, this project balances the warmth of a family home with the utility of a large workshop. Walters partnered with the homeowner to construct the structural shell of the barndominium and workshop, giving them the opportunity to complete the interior themselves and bring their unique vision to life.
The Interior:
The residence features three spacious bedrooms, including a main-floor master suite with a walk-in closet and ensuite bath. Upstairs, two additional bedrooms, a shared full bath, and a loft overlook the soaring open-concept living space. The heart of the home includes a stone fireplace, oversized windows, and a rustic-meets-modern kitchen with a large island and barn-style sliding doors. With two full baths, two half baths, and a dedicated laundry, this barndominium is as functional as it is inviting.
The Exterior:
The exterior makes an equally bold statement. The black steel siding pairs with cedar trusses, columns, and gable accents to highlight the wraparound porch and custom overhead workshop doors, creating a seamless blend with the countryside setting.
The Extras:
Attached to the residence, the 3,800-square-foot workshop is designed for versatility. With five overhead doors, including a glass-panel door that opens to a future entertainment area with a bar and golf simulator, the workshop provides ample room for vehicles, equipment, and hobbies. Four oversized front-facing doors maximize accessibility, while a smaller rear door allows convenient access for tools and smaller equipment.
