Built Here. Built Right.
Walters Buildings proudly uses American-made steel and premium Southern Yellow Pine structural lumber sourced from trusted North America suppliers. Every panel, truss, and column reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, lasting quality and American-made tradition.
Our G-90 galvanized steel provides industry-leading corrosion resistance and Class 4 hail performance, tested to a minimum 80,000 PSI tensile strength and averaging 92,000 PSI for real-world durability. Each 28-gauge panel measures 0.0164 inches bare (0.0174–0.0182 inches after coating) — approximately 15–20% thicker than common 29-gauge panels used by competitors.
Our Southern Yellow Pine (#2 or better) lumber is selected for load-bearing strength and dimensional consistency, ensuring every frame, header, and purlin performs to spec under long-term load and weather exposure.
In-House Manufacturing
Consistency through Control
Engineered Precision from Start to Finish.
Unlike many post-frame builders who rely on third-party suppliers, Walters manufactures its own trusses, steel panels, and columns to guarantee uniformity and performance.
- Steel panels are roll-formed in Allenton, Wisconsin from American-made coils pre-finished with BeckryTech SMP coating, providing superior UV stability, color retention, and chalk resistance.
- Trusses are fabricated in Fairfield, Illinois, combining #1 Southern Yellow Pine and 2400 MSR lumber under Truss Plate Institute (TPI) quality audit standards.
- STP laminated columns are precision-engineered in-house, ensuring tight dimensional tolerances for structural consistency across every build.
By keeping design, fabrication, and logistics under one roof, Walters maintains complete control over fit, finish, and delivery timelines.
What’s drawn in engineering is exactly what’s built on your site.

The Walters Column System

The Foundation of Strength
Innovation That Stands the Test of Time.
Developed by Walters engineers, the Shear Transfer Plate (STP) laminated column system is the backbone of our building strength.
Each column is built from 3–5 plies of #2 or better Southern Yellow Pine, mechanically laminated using Walters’ patented Shear Transfer Plate (STP) technology. This two-sided steel plate features interlocking teeth that bond each ply together under pressure, creating exceptional shear strength and long-term stability. Treated with 0.8 CCA preservative and backed by a 50-year limited warranty, the Walters Column System is engineered to resist rot, decay, and shifting through decades of freeze-thaw cycles.
For slab-mounted applications, columns are secured with ¼-inch powder-coated steel brackets, anchored using ½-inch Strong-Bolt 2 or TitenHD fasteners, ensuring solid connection between concrete and column.
Together, these details create a system designed for multi-decade performance, structural accuracy, and peace of mind.

Steel That Performs
Engineered for Endurance
Stronger. Smarter. Proven.
Walters’ 28-gauge G-90 galvanized structural steel panels are UL 2218 Class 4 hail rated and tested for both tensile strength and coating durability. Each panel features:
- Minimum 80,000 PSI tensile strength (92,000 PSI average).
- G-90 zinc coating (0.9 oz/ft²) applied per ASTM A653 for rust resistance and self-healing edge protection.
- BeckryTech silicone-modified polyester (SMP) finish for long-term color stability.
- 35-year fade and chalk warranties and 40-year adhesion warranties.
- 3-foot-wide panel with three 1-inch major ribs at 12-inch O.C. spacing for balanced strength and visual appeal.
- Double Syfine Groove lap design to break water tension and prevent capillary leaks.
- Optional DripStop membrane available on roof panels for condensation control.
This combination of material science and design precision delivers a panel system that resists dents, corrosion, and color fade — and looks sharp for decades.

Every Material Matters

Beyond Steel and Wood
Because the Details Define the Difference.
At Walters Buildings, quality extends beyond the main structure. Every fastener, vent, window, and trim piece is selected to work in harmony with our systems:
- Fasteners: SFS Woodgrip + screws with EPDM seals for leak-proof attachment.
- Trim & Gutters: 28-gauge G-90 steel, roll-formed K-style gutters with 4″×3″ downspouts and silicone sealant.
- Venting: Vented ridge caps and perforated soffit systems for balanced airflow and reduced moisture.
- Insulation: Standard R-19 wall and R-38 attic insulation options, with spray foam, BIBS, or vapor barrier upgrades available.
- Windows & Doors: Sourced from trusted American vendors, ensuring dependable performance even when global supply chains touch select components.
From the foundation to the finishing trim, every element is chosen for strength, longevity, and compatibility with our building systems.

Designed for the Midwest. Built for a Lifetime.
Performance in Every Season.
Walters Buildings are engineered for regional snow, wind, and soil loads in compliance with IBC and ASCE 7 standards. Each structure is tested by time and terrain — standing straight and strong through decades of Wisconsin winters, Kentucky storms, and Illinois wind shear. That’s why a Walters Building doesn’t just look better — it performs better, season after season, year after year.
The Walters Standard. Built to Last.
When you build with Walters, you’re investing in more than materials — you’re investing in precision engineering, American craftsmanship, and peace of mind. From column to cupola, every component tells the same story: Quality is not an upgrade. It’s the foundation.
